VIJAYAWADA: Taxpayers Association general secretary MV Anjaneyulu took strong exception to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for spending public money lavishly towards organising conventions, besides constructing Capital city.

Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, Anjaneyulu said, “The State government is wasting money on conducting ‘Happy Cities’ Summit and other workshops to build the image of the new capital, Amaravati, where not even a single house had been built so far,” he complained.

Association president V Sambi Reddy said several towns and cities are in the grip of severe water crisis during summer. This apart, traffic congestion is a big issue in the growing cities. “Pedestrians have no footpaths and there are villages that do not have roads.

Several cities lack proper parking and drainage facilities,” he said. Naidu who made tall claims of utilising the solar energy, public transport system and battery vehicles during the Happy Cities Summit is failing to replicate the same in reality in Amaravati, he alleged.
