5 Govt procuring agencies buy 16.66 lakh metric tonnes of wheat at min support price

In Haryana, the five Government procuring agencies and traders have purchased all 16.66 lakh metric tonnes of wheat at minimum support price, which has arrived in the mandis (grain markets) so far during the current season.

The procurement process is running smoothly in all the mandis, said a spokesman of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department.

Giving details of the wheat procured by government agencies, he said that over 4.58 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured by Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, whereas Haryana State Co-operative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited (HAFED) has purchased about 5.61 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. Food Corporation of India has purchased over 2.48 lakh metric tonnes of wheat and Haryana Warehousing Corporation has purchased over 3.97 lakh lakh metric tonnes of wheat.

The spokesman said that district Palwal is leading in wheat arrival with 3.30 lakh metric tonnes followed by Karnal, which recorded 1.63 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. Similarly, 1.37 lakh MT wheat has arrived in Jind, 1.34 lakh MT in Kaithal, 1.27 lakh MT in Sonepat, 97,459 MT in Panipat, 95,917 MT in Faridabad, 80,259 MT in Ambala, 69,927 MT in Kurukshetra, 69,409 MT in Mewat, 59,801 MT in Jhajjar and 59,151 MT in Hisar.

Meanwhile, Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation Limited, Panchkula has so far purchased 80,537 metric tonnes of mustard seed during the current purchase season. As many as 42,180 farmers have so far been benefited with this purchase, the spokesman said.

He said that 15,005 metric tonnes of mustard seed has been purchased in district Bhiwani, 3,381 metric tonnes in Charkhi Dadri, 2,380 metric tonnes in Fatehabad, 5,678 metric tonnes in Gurugram, 300 metric tonnes in Nuh, 8,124 metric tonnes in Hisar, 880 metric tonnes in Jind, 8,279 metric tonnes in Jhajjar, 99 metric tonnes in Karnal, 9107 metric tonnes in Mahendragarh, 10,803 metric tonnes in Rewari, 9,548 metric tonnes in Rohtak and 6,944 metric tonnes in Sirsa.
