Ranchi: The district administration has registered 29 complaints against political parties for violation of norms during campaigning for urban body elections. No less than 40 persons belonging to several political parties are accused in the complaints.
Most of the complaints are related to putting up posters, banners and hoardings at the public places, which is a violation of the
model code of conduct. A case has been registered against JVM-P with the Kotwali police station for putting up hoardings related to Sarhul and Ramnavmi at Harmu bypass road.
A case has also been registered against
BJP leader Navin Jaisawal with Jagannathpur police station for putting a hoarding at Heenu Chowk. Similarly
Congress leader and candidate for mayor’s post Ajay Tirkey has been booked in a complaint filed at the Lalpur police station for putting up posters at public places.
A number of complaints have also been registered against incumbent mayor Asha Lakra and deputy mayor Sanjiv Vijayvargiya and a host of ward member aspirants, including Krishna Kumar, Sumit Kumar and Arun Kumar, for creating noise pollution at various police stations of the city. The cases against Lakra and Vijayvargiya have been lodged at Gonda, Doranda and Doranda police stations.
ADM law and order Akhilesh Kumar Sinha said most of the model code of conduct violation cases are concerned with defacement of the public property. “No one is allowed to put up banners or posters at public buildings,” Sinha said.
