Says BJP ready for debate on fund release

Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha State president S. Vishnuvardhan Reddy on Saturday released TV footage on Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s remarks justifying special package for Andhra Pradesh in lieu of Special Category Status before severing ties with BJP-led NDA.

Terming Mr. Naidu as a rank opportunist, he said the BJP was ready for an open debate with the TDP leadership on Central funds released after 2014 and the status of promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act and demanded release of a white paper on funds disbursed by the Central government for various projects.

Mr. Reddy told reporters here that the footage showed by them buttressed their claim on how Mr. Naidu had made a U turn after making a statement in 2017 that Mr. Modi should become the Prime Minister again in 2019.

Referring to storming of BJP ‘deeksha’ by CPI activists here recently, he said the Left parties had lost public support and came down heavily on them for stooping down to attack on a peaceful protest made under the leadership of State BJP president and MP K. Haribabu against disruption of parliamentary proceedings by the Opposition.

AgriGold scam

He questioned the TDP government as to why it had failed to bring the accused in the AgriGold scam to the book and not granting unemployed allowance to jobless youth as promised in its election manifesto.

So far only five directors of AgriGold had been arrested he wondered why 24 more were being allowed to go scot-free. On allowance for jobless youth, he said after remaining silent for four years, the TDP government had earmarked an allocation of ₹1,000 crore as against requirement of ₹8,000-odd crore.

BJP State executive member Prakash Reddy, city general secretary Ravindra Reddy, BJYM city president K. Chandrasekhar and others were present.
