Brighton Marathon weekend 2018: What is the route and is there a live stream to watch?
THE BRIGHTON Marathon weekend has arrived and thousands of runners are limbering up to prepare for the big event today. What is the route and how can you watch a live stream?
BRIGHTON MARATHON
Today, more than 12,500 runners will descend on the seaside town today to take part in this year's Brighton Marathon and Brighton Marathon 10k (BM10K).
On Sunday morning at 9:45am, thousands of optimistic hopefuls will begin the 26.2 mile slog as they pace all over the city.
This year Paul Sinton-Hewitt CBE will be the guest runner starting the marathon.
He said: “I’m delighted to be involved with The Brighton Marathon and BM10k at every level. These events are critical for so many folks of every ability and from all parts of the country.
"I get goosebumps just thinking about being at the start line seeing all those people getting ready to challenge themselves. I can’t wait for the day.”
What is the route for the Brighton Marathon?
With thousands of participants due to travel to the start on Race Day from outside of the city, the organisers have trialied a new start time of 9:45am.
And along with this, changes have been made to the route, to help improve our runners’ experience by removing narrow sections of the route
North Street and St James’ Street will not be included in the routes.
A statement said: "While these are fantastic locations for crowd support, this will reduce the negative impact for many residents and traders on Race Day."
The route will take them from Preston Park, through the city centre, all along the coast road towards Roedean, to return along the seafront to Shoreham Power Station before finally completely the loop just by Brighton Palace Pier on Madeira Drive
Brighton Buses will be able to maintain their usual Race Day service.

How to watch a live stream
Coverage of the Brighton Marathon today will be aired on ITV.
And although there is currently not a live stream ruynning for the event today, fans can track atheltes using the marathon's 2018 app.
The 2018 mobile app is now available to download; you can find this by searching for 'Active Experience' on Google Play or the App Store.
Brighton Marathon said: "Both you and your supporters will find the app useful over race weekend and is a must-have for anyone coming to the Brighton Marathon Weekend.
"Your supporters will be able to track your progress around the route, keep up to date on all event news, and find lots of spectator information.
"You will be able to view your results, purchase merchandise, see your Participant Instructions, and enter the 2019 event."
