MAHBUBNAGAR: To strengthen the Fisheries department in Mahbubnagar district, the state government has decided to give subsidised loans and vehicles to fishermen under the integrated Fisheries development scheme. The state government has sanctioned Rs 84 crore to four districts including Mahbubnagar as part of its ambitious plans.

Fisheries department officials have begun receiving applications from the fishermen. The scheme will be jointly implemented by the Telangana State fisheries cooperative societies federation and the fisheries department. The authorities will provide fish seed and equipment required to catch the fish to fishermen.

They will also provide training for processing and marketing of their produce and increase their skills. District fisheries officer Qadeer Ahmed said it was a good opportunity to fishermen as they would benefit from the scheme . "We will give 30 different types of equipment to the beneficiaries under the scheme," he said.
