LUCKNOW: As
dry hot winds lashed the state, hot conditions intensified on Sunday.
Allahabad was hottest in the state with
maximum temperature 41.3 degrees Celsius followed by Jhansi with 41 degrees Celsius, Varanasi 40.6 degrees Celsius, Sultanpur and Hampirpur 40.2 degrees Celsius and Agra 40 degrees Celsius.
In Lucknow, mercury almost touched 40 degrees Celsius mark during the day. As sky was clear, the maximum temperature on Sunday rose to 39.6 degrees Celsius, a degree above normal. The
minimum temperature was 20.2 degrees Celsius. On Monday, sky would be mainly clear and maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 40 and 20 degrees Celsius respectively.

JP Gupta said that the many parts of the state including Lucknow witnessed
pleasant weather conditions last week due to thunderstorms and rains but now northwesterly winds coming from Rajasthan are lashing the state and the city. As a result, temperatures may rise further by a degree or two in coming days. There are no weather systems at present which may cause thunderstorm or rains.
