2018 Commonwealth Games table tennis: G Sathiyan-Manika Batra, Sharath Kamal win bronze

India Table Tennis player Sharath Kamal beat Samuel walker Of England to win the bronze medal in the men’s singles event at the 2018 Commonwealth games here on Sunday.

The 35-year-old beat his English opponent 11-7, 11-9, 9-11, 11-6, 12-10 to win the match.

This is Sharath’s third medal at the Games after winning the team Gold and Silver in men’s double.

Earlier Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Manika Batra won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles table tennis competition.

They defeated compatriots Sharath Kamal and Mouma Das 11-6, 11-2, 11-4 in the third position play-off.

G Sathiyan and Manika Batra never once looked troubled against the veterans pairing of Mouma Das and Sharath Kamal.

This was Manika Batra’s fourth medal in the event. She had clinched the women’s singles gold on Saturday and was also part of the women’s team that won the gold medal team table tennis event.

Batra had also won a silver medal in the women’s doubles event alongside Mouma Das.
