MICF 2018 review: Becky Lucas' funny feminism for millennials

COMEDY FESTIVAL
BECKY LUCAS: CUTE FUNNY SMART SEXY BEAUTIFUL ★★★½
Melbourne Town Hall, until April 22

Off the back of her critically acclaimed 2017 show Little Bitch, Brisbane comic and television writer (The Other Guy, Please Like Me) Becky Lucas' new show is creating plenty of buzz among Melbourne's millennials.

That’s represented clearly in the crowd, who are a very hip collection of mostly women packed into an intimate Town Hall room. Lucas has them in the palm of her hand using her dry brand of humour, intersected with plenty of self-deprecation and hilarious, vulgar moments.

She is at her best when talking about feminism, where she is conflicted about some of the injustices women face and scathing of others. One of the ideas she posits is a world where men can get pregnant too – with pregnancy determined by who finishes first.
