Suspense over first list of
Congress candidates was extended by a day as the party put off the announcement on Saturday, for the second time. Discussions continued in Delhi till late evening and the list may be released on Sunday.
The list will have at least eight new faces for Bengaluru, besides higher representation for women and tickets to kin of senior leaders, said a source. Prior to the announcement, the list saw its first casualty as former legislative council chairman
VR Sudarshan, who was eyeing the Kolar seat, quit as
KPCC vice-president.
Sources said Siddaramaiah had reportedly managed to convince the party high command to give a ticket to former independent MLA Ashok Kheny. Aconsensus is said to have been arrived at on fielding former mayor
G Padmavathi from Rajajinagar. K Diwakar, former legal adviser to
Yeddyurappa, has reportedly been accommodated in Malleswaram.
