JD(S) supremo HD Deve Gowda
KOLAR: While former chief minister and JD(S) state president H D Kumaraswamy is crisscrossing the state preparing the regional party for the May 12 elections, his elder brother H D Revanna is fighting a tough battle on his home turf in Hassan. But away from all the media glare, their brother Dr H D Ramesh Gowda is quietly working for the party in Kolar. In fact, the party workers and leaders in Kolar even want him to contest the elections.
However, Ramesh, the fourth son of JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda, told the party workers that he was only there to put an end to the differences among them and not to contest the polls.
Sources told The New Indian Express that Ramesh had called some prominent leaders for a closed-door meeting at the district party office in Kolar and discussed former agriculture minister K Srinivasa Gowda and other JD(S) aspirants. District in-charge secretary Gopala Krishna was also present at the meeting.
At the meeting, Ramesh is said to have told the party leaders that though JD(S) is strong enough to fight the poll battle in all the six Assembly segments in Kolar, there is a lack of leadership in the district. He then asked the party leaders to take all the workers into confidence and boost their morale to ensure the party’s victory.
Sources said Deve Gowda has asked Ramesh to visit all six Assembly segments in Kolar and interact with the party members.
Though JD(S) released the list of all the candidates from Kolar, former agriculture minister K Srinivasa Gowda does not figure in it. Srinivas has expressed his displeasure about this. He even told JD(S) leaders that if the party does not recognise him, he will join the Congress.
