Bigg Boss Marathi airs on Colors Marathi.
TV’s most controversial show Bigg Boss returned to the small screen with its Marathi version on Sunday night. While Bollywood superstar Salman Khan hosted the Hindi version of the reality show for the past few seasons, actor and filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar stepped in as the host of the Marathi version. The contestants of the first season of Bigg Boss Marathi are Resham Tipnis, Vineet Bhonde, Jui Gadkari, Aastad Kale, Anil Thatte, Smita Gondkar, Aarti Solanki, Bhushan Kadu, Usha Nadkarni, Megha Dhade, Pushkar Jog, Sai Lokur, Rutuja Dharmadhikari, Rajesh Shringarpore and Sushant Shelar.
Just like other Bigg Boss formats, even the Marathi edition will have all celebrities under 24×7 camera surveillance for 100 days. The voice of Bigg Boss will be the only link between the celebrities and the outside world.

Highlights
Usha Nadkarni tells all the contestants to do the famous Balya dance which is performed during Ganesh Chaturthi in Maharastra.
Bigg Boss gives Mahesh Manjrekar the first task of locking the house and kicking off the first season of Bigg Boss Marathi.
The next contestants are Rajesh Shringarpore and Sushant Shelar. They have worked together in hit political drama Zenda.
Mahesh asks Sushant to mimic Rajkumar’s dialogue ‘Sasti cheezon ka shauk hume nahi hai Bigg Boss’ to which Mahesh replies, 'Par mehengi cheezon tumko milenge nahi kyu ki Bigg Boss tumhe denge nahi.'
When Usha Nadkarni can't recall where she has seen Rutuja Dharmadhikari, the latter reveals she starred in horror show Ratris Khel Chale. The comedians joke that all of them should keep some talisman handy incase Rutuja tries to scare them.
Rutuja Dharmadhikari makes a rather scary entry as she dances to Gumnaam Hai Koi song.
Mahesh Manjrekar yells at Rutuja saying, "Why do you keep scaring audience every night?" He adds, "You think by scaring fellow contestants, you can get them evicted."
Mahesh congratulates Rutuja on the sucess of her show. He goes on to pull her leg for speaking Marathi with many English words in between.
Pushkar Jog and Sai Lokur enter Bigg Boss Marathi. While Sai dances to Marathi song "Madan Pichkari", Pushkar makes his entry on a cycle rickshaw. They also dance to "Tamma Tamma".
Pushkar Jog, who is a dentist by profession, has done couple of Hindi films too. Sai Lokur, who starred in Kapil Sharma’s debut film Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, is pursuing fashion designing and has requested her college to let her appear for exams post the show. She made her debut as a child actor in Fardeen Khan's Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein.
Megha Dhade enters Bigg Boss Marathi saying, “Bigg Boss sirf teen cheezo ke wajah se chalti hai - entertainment, entertainment, entertainment." She performs on Ooh La La song from The Dirty Picture.
Megha tells Mahesh Manjrekar that since childhood she wanted to be an actress and never had a backup plan.
The actress reveals she has spent lakhs shopping for her 100 days stay in the Bigg Boss house. She also has her finale attire ready.
Megha Dhade flirts with Mahesh saying, “You are the coolest guy in the Marathi film industry.
"I personally want Usha to win," says Bigg Boss Marathi host Mahesh Manjrekar.
Housemates discuss about Usha Nadkarni as Aarti Solanki had not told the veteran actress that she too is a part of Bigg Boss Marathi.
Everyone greets Usha by touching her feet. Aarti’s fear vanishes into thin air as Usha hugs the comedian.
Usha Nadkarni says, “I am punctual even today and working on shifts from a long time. I never like when I reach on time but young actors walk in late. That pisses me off. I bought everything from my own hard-earned money only because I was hardworking and that's my message for all the youngsters out there.”
Her younger brother says, “Since she is a mother to me, I will miss her a lot. She is so determined when she sets a goal and she will win this.”
Mahesh Manjrekar says Usha Nadkarni has created a record across all Bigg Boss shows for being the youngest and most enthusiastic contestant ever. "At 72, she is surely a winning candidate," said Mahesh.
Popular Marathi and Hindi actress Usha Nadkarni enters to the beats of Zingaat.
Usha played the evil mother-in-law in Zee’s popular show Pavitra Rishta and was last seen in Akshay Kumar’s Rustom.
Aarti Solanki and Bhushan Kadu are given a warm welcome by fellow contestants.
Tour guide Vineet Bhonde is giving Bhushan and Aarti a tour of the house. Since Aarti is on the heavier side, Bhushan teases her saying, "We know gym area is not gonna be your favourite area."
Comedian Aarti Solanki enters Bigg Boss Marathi. She dances tapori style to the tunes of Go Go Govinda. Comedian Bhushan Kadu also make his entry dancing to super hit Marathi number Rickshawala. Bhushan does Mahesh Manjrekar's mimicry on the latter's insistence.
Aarti and Bhushan have done many comedy shows and films and are very good friends in real life. Will Bigg Boss Marathi affect their friendship?
Smita Gondkar enters the Bigg Boss house. It seems Smita knows Resham Tipnis as both girls greet each other warmly. Resham compliments Smita by calling her “hot”.
Smita Gondkar enters Bigg Boss Marathi on a dirt bike. Known for her bold personality, Smita was the only female semi-finalist on MTV Stunt Mania in 2009.
Pappi De Parula fame Smita has been a state level swimmer and was part of the national team for kayaking.
Smita Gondkar thinks since she was an athlete, she has an edge over others in the tasks and will be one of the top contenders for winning the title.
Anil Thatte enters the Bigg Boss house and everyone is a bit taken aback. They don’t know how to react. Bigg Boss Marathi tour guide Vineet Bhonde gives Anil a tour of the house. However, Anil is taken aback when Vineet asks him, “Who are you?”
The next contestant to enter Bigg Boss Marathi is Anil Thatte, who is an ex-journalist known for his quirky style.
He has 1500 clothes and 200-300 jackets. His car also has his picture. He says it is a part of his brand building. He adds, “I am unique and there will never be one more Anil Thatte again.”
Vineet Bhonde gives Aastad Kale a tour of the house. Vineet tells Aastad, “If you guys trouble me, I will jump in the pool and do suicide." He says this in Dharmendra’s Sholay style.
Jui Gadkari and Aastad Kale enter Bigg Boss Marathi. The young stars are loved for their chemistry. Aastad is also a trained classical singer.
Vineet Bhonde and Resham Tipnis are already getting along. She sings the song Der Lagi Aane Mein Tumko for rest of the contestants.
Vineet tells Resham that he can't do kitchen work as he is so short. The comedian adds that he will do all the work which is ground level.
Mahesh Manjrekar remarks that Vineet Bhonde has brought honour to the show with his presence. Mahesh also pulls Vineet’s leg by saying that instead of going for his honeymoon, he has come to the show.
Vineet is accompanied by his wife. Mahesh asks her why she let her husband participate in Bigg Boss Marathi when they could have gone for their honeymoon. She replies, “I know he has all the qualities to win the title.”
Vinee Bhonde’s wife gifts him their family picture so that when he misses them, he can see it. The second contestant enters the Bigg Boss house.
The second contestant to enter Bigg Boss Marathi is Vineet Bhonde, who is a vertically challenged actor known for his comedy.
Resham Tipnis starts a conversation with the cameras. She tells Bigg Boss, “Since you are the owner of this house, I will call you Bigg Boss Dada.”
The first contestant of Bigg Boss Marathi Resham Tipnis enters the house and heads to the kitchen. She later chooses a corner bed for herself.
Bigg Boss Marathi host Mahesh Manjrekar tells Resham Tipnis that if she can handle the kitchen, then she will be sorted in the house. Irrespective of the language, kitchen politics is synonymous with being the front-runner in Bigg Boss
Resham Tipnis performs to the tunes of Inkaar song Oo Mungda Mungda and Madhuri Dixit's Humko Aaj Kal Hai Intezaar. She sports a typical Koli style saree. On a mashup of Hindi and Marathi songs, she brings the audience to their feet.

Host Mahesh Manjrekar enters on Swag Se Swagat song and launches the first season of Bigg Boss Marathi. He is currently giving a peek into the Bigg Boss house where 15 Marathi celebrities will spend 100 days. The house is made on the theme of a typical Maharashtrian bungalow known as Wada in Marathi.
In a conversation with indianexpress.com, Bigg Boss Marathi host Mahesh Manjrekar said, "When I got to know Bigg Boss is being made in Marathi, I knew the show would require a host, who has a lot of character. At the back of my mind I knew I would be able to do it but with so many big faces already there in the Marathi industry, I did not know it could come my way. So when Nikhil (Nikhil Sane - Business Head of the channel) called me asking if I would do it, I was like don’t ask, I am already on-board.”
He further added, “But I won’t lie, I definitely had butterflies in my stomach. We did a mock shoot and then shot the music video and I thought I would do well. The fact that Bigg Boss doesn’t require any script is phenomenal as then you get caught between lines, here I can be all out and express my true emotions.”
