Hospital employees to hold agitations

Wage revision demanded

The Kerala State Private Hospital Employees’ Federation, affiliated to the CITU, will hold agitations this month in all districts of the State, demanding wage revision for employees, with minimum wages stipulations.

In a press note issued here, M. Anilkumar and A. Madhavan, president and secretary of the federation, said that it was after the intervention of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan that minimum wages were recommended in the sector in Kerala in compliance with the instructions of the apex court.

Mr. Vijayan also gave instructions to the Minimum Wages Advisory Board to issue the final notification in a time-bound manner. But hospital managements moved the High Court arguing that the Chief Minister was acting unilaterally. This case was dismissed later.

Hence, the need for a unified effort to ensure minimum wages, they said in the statement.
