Environment Canada has issued a freezing rain warning for parts of New Brunswick.
Northwestern and central regions of the province are included in that warning. In those areas, precipitation is expected to begin Monday with ice pellets and flurries, then change to freezing rain overnight, which will persist into Tuesday.
Special weather statements have been issued for the rest of the province, where there is also potential for an extended period of freezing rain, as well as heavy rainfall.
Sarah Carmichael, a meteorologist with Environment Canada, said it's the same weather system that has slammed Ontario in recent days.
"We could see four to six-plus hours of freezing rain for central to northern areas of New Brunswick," Carmichael said.
"Certainly this type of weather can delay flights and cause issues on the roads."
