Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath declared that the proposed Bundelkhand expressway is set to transform the face of this rugged region by providing employment to over 2.50 lakh youth once the Defence Corridor was developed across the expressway.

“Our government is committed to the development of Bundelkhand by solving water woes as well as carrying out development schemes. The government has launched ‘One District One Product’ (ODOP) project under which paper industry of Kalpi would be propelled to the global platform,” Yogi said in Jalaun after inaugurating 275 schemes worth Rs 388 crores on Friday.

The Chief Minister said that when the BJP came to power, its  first priority was to develop Bundelkhand region which is bestowed with many natural resources. “This is unfortunate that previous governments did not take any initiative to solve people’s problems,” he said.

“We are aware about the large scale exodus of youth from this region to other parts of the country for livelihood. We came out with a proposal to construct Bundelkhand Expressway which will shorten commutation time. The government has also made a proposal to construct Defence Corridor around this Expressway. Once this is functional, it would generate over 2.50 lakh employment thus ending the exodus of youth,” Yogi said in a public meeting held at GIC Grounds in Orai.

The CM admitted that the government schemes were plagued with corruption. “I ask you people to act as vigilantes. If you see corruption anywhere, inform government officials, local people’s representatives and also the CM office. It is also your responsibility to ensure that benefits of government schemes reached the door steps of bonafide recipients,” he said.

As if giving his government’s report card of the last one year, Yogi said that his government has given 8.85 lakh houses to poor, 40 lakh toilets, 65 lakh gas cylinders and free power connections to 32 lakh people. “This process is continuing and will also continue in the years to come,” Yogi assured.
