Farmers should not face any inconvenience: CM

Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has issued instructions to immediately purchase wheat, gram, mustard and red lentils and deposit payment in the accounts of farmers without delay.

He said that farmers should not face any kind of inconvenience. They should not have to cover a long distance to reach the purchase centre. If necessary, the number of purchase centres should be increased. Chouhan was speaking to divisional commissioners and district collectors through a video conference today at the Mantralaya.

Terming the Mukhya Mantri Krishi Samriddhi Yojana as a historic scheme for farmers Chouhan said that more than Rs 1700 crore will be deposited in the accounts of 2.82 lakh paddy farmers and over Rs 7 lakh in the wheat producing farmers’ accounts. This amount is being given at an additional cost of Rs 200 per quintal on 67.21 lakh metric tonnes of wheat purchased at the support price last year. He said that this is a historic decision in the interest of farmers. The distribution of additional amount will be started from the district of Shajapur on April 16.

Arrangement has been made to broadcast this programme directly in the Mandi in all the districts. Chouhan said that on this day there will be an atmosphere of celebration for the farmers. Such an opportunity has come for the first time in the history of the state. He told that similarly the distribution of additional amount of Rs 200 per quintal to paddy producing farmers will begin from Waraseoni on April 15. Payment of more than Rs 57.87 crore will be made to nearly 72,000 paddy producing farmers.

Chouhan said that on the purchase of gram, mustard and red lentils, an additional amount of Rs 100 per quintal will be given under Mukhya Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Yojana. Similarly additional incentive of Rs 265 per quintal will be distributed on wheat purchased this year on June 10.

The CM gave instructions to get the accounts of farmers verified so that there is no hindrance in getting the amount deposited in their accounts. Praising the concerned officials the effective arrangements made for government purchase of wheat and other produce in the state, the CM said that the purchase system is exemplary in the whole country. There is need to add pace to procurement so that the produce can be stored without delay and money reaches the farmers’ accounts.  He  said that vikas yatras will be organised from May 1 to 10 in all districts of the State.
