One man was injured after his vehicle slid off the road and rolled over into the ditch Saturday morning.
According to a media release from the Linn County Sheriff’s Office, at 9:03 a.m. Saturday emergency responders were dispatched to a single-vehicle accident with injuries near the intersection of Mount Vernon and Ballard Roads.
As they arrived, they found a vehicle in the south ditch off Mount Vernon Road just east of Ballard Road, according to the release. The only occupant of this vehicle was Dennis Bradley, 79, of Cedar Rapids.
Officials say further investigation revealed that Bradley had suffered a “medical episode” causing him to lose control of his vehicle. As the vehicle left the roadway, it then rolled over on its top.
Bradley suffered what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries, according to the release, and was transported by Mount Vernon / Lisbon Ambulance to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids for treatment of his injuries. Bradley was not cited for wrongdoing in the accident, according to the release.
Also responding to the scene in addition to Linn County Deputies was Linn County Rescue 57 along with the Mount Vernon Police Department, Mount Vernon Fire Department, and Mount Vernon/Lisbon Ambulance Service, according to the release.
