HYDERABAD: Police on Friday arrested three persons including two women in connection with female foeticide incident that took place in Gayatri Nursing Home. The arrested persons were produced before the court for judicial remand. Saidabad Inspector K Sattaiah said that the High Court directed the police to register cases and asked them to carry out investigation.

“Following the court directions, we arrested three persons Rachana Singh Thakur, her husband Kiran Kumar and supervisor Sarwar Unnisa. It was revealed that the three persons were indulged in female foeticide incidents and Sarwar Unnisa helped the doctors,’’ inspector said.

Cases under Section 5 of clause 2,3,4 of Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) Act have been registered. A few days ago, the High Court directed the city police commissioner to entrust the investigation to a responsible senior officer to exclusively investigate the case and submit an action taken report before the court.

The Hyderabad in-charge district medical health officer,IA Sarala said that the hospital’s license will be cancelled as the hospital was not registered to conduct abortions.

“They performed medical termination of pregnancy without being registered under us. Further, those who need to renew their registrations need to do it within a month and those who are unregistered will be issued show cause notices,” said the DMHO.
