With all parties trying to pip each other and woo the Dalit vote bank by celebrating the 127th Ambedkar Jayanti on Saturday, security forces have been put on high alert to prevent mischief mongers from disturb peace and inciting violence.

DGP, OP Singh issued advisory to all Districts Magistrates and SSP/ SPs asking to remain on alert and take preventive steps so that no incendet of violence was reported across the state on Saturday. The top cop asked officials to intensify patrolling to ensure that no loss of life and property took place and clamp prohibitory orders wherever necessary.

Sources said that special measures have been in view of on-going caste conflicts, particularly vandalizing of Dr Ambedkar’s statues to incite tension or violence.

Recently western UP was witness to violence during protests by Dalit groups against alleged dilution of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act by the apex court on April 2. Beside huge loss of property, three persons also lost their lives. Hence district officals have already imposed prohibitory orders ahead of Ambedkar’s Jayanti and claimed that processions would be allowed only after permission from local authorities.
