German artist in Valletta exhibition

Franziska von Stenglin presents Johnny's Bar

Malta Contemporary Art presents Johnny's Bar, an exhibition by Franziska von Stenglin.

The German artist studied photography at the London University of the Arts and Fine Art at Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. She is a visual artist whose projects intertwine the personal narrative with local myth and lore. In 2016, von Stenglin wrote, produced and directed her first short film, I’m a Stranger Here Myself. In November of 2017 she shot her second film, The Dust Of Modern Life, on 16mm in Kon Tum, Vietnam. She lives and works in Berlin, Germany.

Malta Contemporary Art was founded in 2008 in Malta by artist and curator Mark Mangion. Between 2008 - 2011, MCA established itself as one of the foremost fora for contemporary art in Malta, collaborating with over 100 artists and other professionals in over 20 exhibitions, projects and events including Simon Starling, Cyprien Gaillard, Spartacus Chetwynd, Jess Flood-Paddock.

The exhibition runs at Malta Contemporary Art in Valletta between April 27 and June 2.
