Hry CM congratulates medal winners

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal has congratulated the sports persons from the State who won medals in different events at the Commonwealth Games on Friday.

While Bajrang Punia (men’s 57kg) won gold, Pooja Dhanda (women's 57kg) and Mausam Khatri (men's 97kg) picked up silver. Fifteen-year-old Anish Bhanwala made history by becoming India's youngest gold medalist after shooting 30 points which is a Commonwealth Games record in the 25m Rapid Fire final. Boxers, Manish Kaushik, Vikas Krishan and Amit have reached the finals. 

In a statement issued here, the Chief Minister said, “I congratulate all the players who won laurels and did Haryana and the country proud. I wish all our participants in the CWG best of performance and best of luck”. 

A day before, Sushil Kumar had won gold, his third consecutive in CWG--in 74kg men’s freestyle wrestling, Babita Kumari had won silver in 53-kg women’s category and Kiran won bronze in women’s 76-kg category.

Earlier, shooter Manu Bhaker from Haryana had won a gold medal in the Commonwealth Games while weightlifter Deepak Lather had clinched a bronze in the men’s 69kg category.
