Robert Boots, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died April 12, 2018, peacefully at home. A celebration of life will be held on May 6, 2018, at a location yet to be determined. Burial at a later date at Campbell Cemetery, Bertram. Arrangements are with Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids.
Bob is survived by his wife, Janet; children, Dawn, Guy, Lisa and Bob; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Doris Hall; sister-in-law, Janola Boots; and many nieces and nephews.
On March 1, 1938, Irwin and Mary (Bishop) Boots welcomed Robert William into their family. Bob graduated from McKinley High School in 1956 before entering the Air Force in 1957. He was a specialist at going into bombers and working on things that required someone who was slight of build. After eight years of service, Bob mustered out as a staff sergeant in 1964. He and Jean Gaspard had four children before divorcing. Then, on May 6, 1972, Bob married his love, Janet Luensmann.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; brother, Gene Boots; sisters, Lois (Hank) Busser, Betty (Leroy) Sander and Margaret (Chuck) Ohe; brother-in-law, Bill Hall; and four nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Salvation Army.
