Coimbatore Corporation floats tender for apart of lake development project

The Coimbatore Corporation floated tenders a couple of days ago for the ‘quick win’ component of its lake development project, after it obtained technical sanction from the State Government.

Three tenders worth ₹89 crore included work to develop the northern bund of Big Tank for over one km, developing the link road across Valangulam and developing the space beneath the bridge on Ukkadam Bypass Road.

The Corporation had also floated tender for developing two km of D.B. Road into a model road at ₹24 crore.

The sources said that the three works were part of the 'quick win' component of the lake development project that it had taken up under the Area Based Development part of the Smart Cities project.

The Corporation wanted to take up those works that it could easily execute and showcase those to the city and the Central Government.

The rest of the works that included Narasampathy, Krishnampathy, Selvachinthamani, Singanallur and other tanks formed the second part of the Lake Development project, for which it would soon submit the proposal to the State Government for administrative sanction.

The officials said they hoped to open the tenders by the end of the May.
