Rajan Eye Care launches robotic cataract surgery system

Rajan Eye Care Hospital Pvt Ltd on Saturday launched the state-of-the-art Robotic Femto cataract surgery system, marking its 23rd anniversary celebrations.

The system is customised as per the patient’s cataract and its condition and the Femto Laser technology ensures treatment with the highest level of precision, experts said.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Mohan Rajan, Chairman and Medical Director of Rajan Eye Care, recalled the hospital’s journey since inception in 1995 and how it was in the forefront of embracing technology. He noted that Rajan Eye Care is neither a corporate hospital nor a private hospital, but was positioned in between to ensure quality delivery of eye care.

N. Ram, Chairman, The Hindu Publishing Group, noted that Dr. Mohan Rajan drew his inspiration from his father Dr. N. Rajan and Dr. Badrinath of Sankara Nethralaya, under whom he got his basic training. “The launch of the robotic technology is another milestone for Rajan Eye Care. Its pursuit of technology and widening access is on the same lines as that of Sankara Nethralaya. Upholding the values of integrity and widening access of eye care is admirable,” he said.

Governor Banwarilal Purohit said: “My best wishes are with the Rajan Eye Care Hospital who have ushered in a revolution in eye care through the use of robotics...I wish to emphasise that medical care should be effective so as to reduce pain and suffering and also be affordable to the common man. It should also be easily accessible and within the reach of the common man.”

Srikanth Gongulur, Head Sales, Johnson & Johnson (AMO), participated.
