Day after PM’s visit, AIADMK party organ slams Centre

A poem says the ‘Lotus’ party must realise pride of Tamils

CHENNAI

A day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tamil Nadu, an article in Namadhu Puratchi Thalaivi Amma, the ruling AIADMK’s mouthpiece, surprisingly, criticised the Centre.

While the protests for formation of Cauvery Management Board has been gaining momentum by the day and with hash tag #GoBackModi topping twitter on Thursday, the ruling party kept quiet during the Prime Minister’s visit.

On Friday, though, the newly started party organ had an article in the form of a long poem authored by Chithiraguptan detailing the various instances in which the Centre had neglected the State’s rights.

‘Unbalanced act’

The poem began with the question where did the “black” come from in the land that neither desires nor hates. The Centre’s unbalanced and irresponsible acts had the Tamils seething, it said. “Initially, we asked for exemption from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, you denied it. We sought one year’s time to implement, that also was rejected,” the article said.

Then the Centre failed to give a properly reply or compensation for Cyclone Vardah and was dragging on the Neduvasal (hydrocarbon project). Subramanian Swamy adds fuel to the fire by asking Sri Lanka not to release boats of captured Tamil Nadu fishermen.

In revenue generation, Tamil Nadu was ranked second but the State was being continuously neglected leaving the people fuming. All the demands are put in back burner and the speeches of H. Raja and Tamilisai leave the people angry.

The Centre should change its attitude. Otherwise, there would be cracks in the unity of the nation, the article said emphasising that at least now the ‘Lotus’ party (BJP) [must ] realise the self-respect of Tamils.
