Two civil police officers found dead

Two police officers attached to the City police were found dead in their houses on Friday. The police suspect suicide in both cases.

Prasannakumar, 43, who was a civil police officer with the Poonthura police station, was found hanging from a tree on his courtyard at Kuttithanni under the Neyyattinkara police station limits around 8.30 a.m.

The deceased, who was under suspension in connection with an alleged rape case, was said to be under stress owing to debt, official sources said.

He is survived by his wife and two children. The body was handed over to the family after completion of autopsy.

In the second case, Arun, 42, a civil police officer at the Poojappura police station, was found hanging from the ceiling of his rented house at Poozhikkunnu under the Nemom police station limits. He hailed from Ookkodu. The body was found by his wife around 5.30 p.m.
