KALABURAGI: An Argentinian girl who married an Afghan national in New Delhi in October last year has gone back to her home country after deserting him over following Sufism, Superintendent of Police Shashikumar on Friday. Argentina’s embassy helped the woman go back home after the couple stayed in Kalaburagi for a few days.
Shashikumar told reporters that a Facebook friendship between Daniela Soledad of Argentina and Ahmad Zarif Chishty of Afghanistan a few years ago turned into love.
Both Soledad and Chishty came to India on tourist visas and got married in New Delhi. The couple stayed in a rented house at Vijayapura in Karnataka for a few days.
The SP said the couple arrived at Kalaburagi about a fortnight ago and Soledad contacted her parents over the phone and asked them to arrange her to return to Argentina saying she does not like how Chishty lives.
Her parents contacted Argentina’s embassy and requested the officials to help her to go back to her native.
Kalaburagi police obliged and the embassy officials went back with the woman a couple of days ago, Shashikumar said.
Shashikumar said Chishty was a propagator of Sufi philosophy and pressured Soledad to follow Sufism as she had married him. As differences cropped up on the issue, she decided to leave him, the SP said.
