Depressed over Intermediate results, girl commits suicide in Andhra Pradesh

GUNTUR: A 19-year-old girl committed suicide after she failed in the Intermediate supplementary exams at Bapatla in Guntur district on Friday. She was identified as M Hema Durga, a resident of Srungarapuram in Bapatla.

Hema Durga was the daughter of Sivaiah, a senior assistant in revenue office of Kollur mandal in Guntur district. Sivaiah’s elder son Lokesh is studying B Tech final year at Bapatla. According to the police, Hema Durga was alone at home.

She got to know her results from a friend and realised that she had failed in a few subjects. She went into the bedroom and hung herself from the ceiling fan. Sivaiah rushed his daughter Hema Durga to a hospital where the doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Hema Durga’s body was shifted to Bapatla government hospital for postmortem. Bapatla Urban CI K Vinay Kumar have registered a case of unnatural death.
