Fortnite Battle Royale fans are worried that the game is about to close down for good.
Rumours have surfaced that Fortnite Battle Royale is shutting down on May 24.
As Twinfinite points out, the rumours started when a screengrab of an alleged tweet from the official Fortnite account started doing the rounds online.
The post reads: "Due to the law suit against PubG on copyright infringement. We are sorry to inform you that Fortnite Battle Royale Will be coming to an end May 24, 2018.
"Save the world will still be in development and we will roll out ASAP. Thank you all for the support."
Fortunately for Fortnite fans, the tweet appears to be nothing more than a hoax.
In addition to grammatical errors, the tweet is nowhere to be found on the official Fortnite page.
Express Online has contacted Epic Games for an official statement, but you needn't worry about Fortnite Battle Royale going away any time soon.
The news comes as Epic attempts to make amends for recent server outages.
Fortnite fans were unable to login for large periods of April 12 - which could explain why some fans readily believed the closing down rumours.
The outage was caused by a "critical failure" with one of Epic's account service databases.
The game came back online during the afternoon, although many players still experienced login issues, especially on PS4.
To make up for the server issues, Epic Games is dishing out free items.
Battle Royale players will receive free Back Bling, while Save the World owners will be awarded a Troll Stash Llama.
That's on top of free Battle Stars and Seasonal Gold releasing as part of next week's update.
"Next week, we will be granting a pack of Battle Stars to our Battle Royale players and Seasonal Gold to the Save the World players,” the message adds.
“This will require brief additional downtime, so we will be including it as a part of our planned update next week."
