Artisan market, open day at Fort St Elmo

The market will feature stalls set up by artisans producing original goods, unique arts, home décor and trendy accessories.

Malta Artisan Markets is holding a ‘market weekend’ at Fort St Elmo, Valletta, today and tomorrow.

The market will feature stalls in the fort’s Casemates area set up by various small businesses, food producers and independent artisans producing original goods, unique arts, home décor, and accessories ‘trending’ locally.

Tomorrow, Heritage Malta is organising an open day at the fort enabling the public to visit its various attractions for free. These include the National War Museum, the temporary exhibition about the Schranz family of artists, and another exhibition of World War II documents at St Anne’s Chapel.

There will be three guided tours of the fort at 9.30am and 3.30pm in Maltese and at 1.30pm in English.

Other attractions of the open day include the In Guardia Parade at 11am and performances and other activities by Slackliner Malta from 2 to 5pm and by the Legio X and Battlefront re-enactment groups.

Some areas of the fort which are normally closed will be accessible throughout the day.

The market weekend will be held at Fort St Elmo, Valletta, today and tomorrow from 10am to 5pm (last admission 4.30pm). The market is bike and pet friendly. Admission is free. For more information visit www.maltaartisanmarkets.com.
