
NREGS: Rs 1,602.27 crore released to Andhra Pradesh government

VIJAYAWADA: The State government has received Rs 1,602.27 crore from the Union Rural Development Ministry towards wage component of National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS).
According to Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Director P Ranjith Basha, Rs 522.42 crore will be used for clearing the pending wages of workers until April 7 this year.
Stating that the remaining Rs 1,079.85 crore will be utilised for payment of wages to workers in the coming two to three months, Ranjith Basha allayed the fears of workers over delayed payments and appealed to them to attend the NREGS works as usual.
