Vegas' Carrier day to day after Doughty hit

Vegas Golden Knights forward William Carrier is day to day with an upper-body injury suffered on an illegal hit from Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty in Game 1 of the two teams' first-round playoff series on Wednesday.

Carrier didn't practice Thursday, and his status for Game 2 on Friday is up in the air. If he is unavailable, Oscar Lindberg or Ryan Reaves will take his place.

Doughty has been suspended one game for his hit. He delivered a shoulder to Carrier's head on a check midway through the third period of Wednesday night's 1-0 loss to the Golden Knights, knocking the 23-year-old to the ice, where he stayed down for a moment. Carrier left the game and did not return. The play was unpenalized.

Carrier returned to Vegas' lineup earlier this month after missing two months with an undisclosed injury. He had a goal and two assists in 37 regular-season games.

Vegas coach Gerard Gallant also said David Perron's status for Game 2 will be determined after he is re-evaluated following Friday's morning skate. Perron, who led the team with 50 assists in the regular season, has been out since March 26 with an undisclosed injury.

"He's getting close. He's skating," Gallant said. "But, until he's ready, I'm not sure."
