Police, fire, a bomb squad and the FBI were called to the scene.

FALL RIVER — A suspected pipe bomb that turned out to be fireworks in an SUV on Bank Street brought out multiple public safety personnel and equipment this morning, closing off side streets on Bedford Street and slowing traffic.

Official information from the Fall River Police Department is pending, but information gathered at the scene indicates a police officer on detail for construction on Bank Street was ready to tow the vehicle in a no parking zone when he notice a suspicious item inside the car.

Police, fire, a bomb squad and the FBI were called to the scene.

After discovering that the suspected bomb was a launching tube and fireworks, the scene was cleared at around 9:30 a.m.
