Langdon Hall in Cambridge has been ranked fifth in the country in an annual list of top restaurants put out by Canada's 100 Best.
The magazine noted that the "exceptional service" coupled with the culinary growth of executive chef Jason Bangerter earned the restaurant its first ever top 10 finish on the list.
"The food is exceptional," the magazine says in its review of Langdon Hall.
"[Bangerter's] cooking features classical influences with very modern execution. And from the plates he serves it on (often made by local artisans) to the unusual local forage (from wild orange to wood sorrel) he incorporates in the mix, the experience is emphatically rooted in its place."
This is the fourth year for the the best restaurant list. Langdon Hall, which was 15th last year, was the only restaurant in Waterloo region to make it. The top restaurant was Alo in Toronto.
In a release, Langdon Hall said Bangerter and food and beverage director Vigillio Vea led a dedicated team, which was why they moved up in the rankings.
"Due to the enthusiasm of every single staff member embracing the core values of teamwork, passion and inspiration that enable an inclusive approach and embodies the true spirit of hospitality," the statement said.
