Cheetahs run out of puff in Bloemfontein

2018-04-13 21:37

Cape Town - Munster have come back from behind in the second half to defeat the Cheetahs in their PRO14 encounter at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein on Friday evening.

The Irish outfit won 19-17 after trailing 17-7 at half-time.

The Cheetahs ran in two tries through Clayton Blommetjies and Tian Meyer. Former Springbok flyhallf Johan Goosen made his return to competitive rugby and landed two conversions and a penalty for the home side.

Johann van Graan's side ran in two tries through Simon Zebo and Conor Murray. Flyhalf JJ Hanrahan slotted in a conversion and three penalties.

However, it was Murray's penalty that proved the deciding factor as he took Munster to victory.

On Saturday, the Kings play host to the Cardiff Blues at Nelson Mandela Bay (19:35).

In next weekend's PRO14 round, the Cheetahs have bye and thereafter they face the Kings in a PRO14 SA derby in Port Elizabeth on Saturday, April 28.
