Says he did not go to the Defence Expo as a mark of protest

Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy on Thursday held discussions with the All India Mahila Congress general secretary Nagma.

The actor-turned-politician met Minister for Public Works A. Namassivayam, who heads the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee. She was here to interact with the women’s wing of the PCC.

Earlier, addressing a press meet, Mr. Narayanasamy dubbed the fast undertaken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to protest against the Opposition stalling Parliament proceeding as “a drama.”

Mr. Narayanasamy wondered whether the Prime Minister was on fast in the plane. Mr. Modi had travelled to Tiruvidanthai in Kancheepuram district to inaugurate the 10th edition of Defence Expo on Thursday morning.

The Chief Minister said he was invited by Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for the inauguration of the exhibition but decided to boycott the event as a mark of protest against the Centre’s stand on constituting the Cauvery Management Board (CMB). The Centre had deliberately delayed the setting up of CMB for political considerations, the Chief Minister said.
