Surat: A third year BTech student Yajuvendra Singh Dabas committed suicide in his hostel room at SVNIT on Friday evening. He hung himself to the ceiling fan with a cloth. According to Umra police officials, Dabas’s family lived in Navsari since last 15 years and his father worked as a vet doctor.
Police said that Dabas was not doing well in his studies and even had attendance related issues. Singh’s elder sister Bela also lives and studies in SVNIT in eighth semester of MSC Physics. She had gone to meet him as both brother-sister used to travel to Navsari on weekends. As she went to call him, she called up from ground floor asking him to come down. However, there was no reply despite.
The door was locked from inside and after breaking the door, Singh was found hanging.
