WINDTHORST – Laynie Brown baffled Petrolia’s batters Friday night, leading Windthorst to a 4-0 victory. Brown allowed a single hit and just two base runners with the other reaching via error. She struck out eight.

The win puts Windthorst (17-9, 11-0) in complete command of District 8-2A with Petrolia (19-9, 8-2) falling behind by two games.

While one Brown was shutting the Lady Pirates down, another was lighting up the scoreboard. Abby Brown finished 3 for 3 with a pair of solo home runs and a RBI double.

Raeley Mataska had Petrolia’s lone hit, belting a double in the fifth inning.

Lady Eagles rout City View

HOLLIDAY – The Holliday Lady Eagles made sure District 8-3A softball remained unpredictable with a 15-5 run-rule victory against City View on Friday.

The Lady Eagles (12-14, 6-6) keep themselves in the thick of the playoff race with the win, while the Lady Mustangs (16-7, 7-5) have a three-game winning streak snapped.

Holliday had 15 hits in the win, including a 4 for 4 performance by Bree Zellers, who had two triples and four RBIs. Kaitlynn Weatherread and Taylor Gillit were each 3 for 4. Weatherread had two doubles with three runs and five RBIs, while Gillit scored three times and drove in a run.

Whitney Zaloski led City View at the plate, going 1 for 3 with a double, run and two RBIs.
