Spring cleaning still on the to-do list?

Deltona will provide large dumpsters on April 21 and 22 so residents may get rid of items too big for their regular trash cans, city spokeswoman Wendi Jackson said.

The dumpsters will be located at 2391 Day Road, near the U.S. Post Office on Howland Boulevard, and residents may take items there from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 21 and from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 22.

Certain items — tires, motor oil, auto parts, paint, pool chemicals, hazardous materials and/or large appliances — should instead be taken to the county's West Volusia Transfer Station, 3151 E. New York Ave., near DeLand, or the Tomoka Landfill, 1990 Tomoka Farms Road, near Port Orange, Jackson said. Fees may apply.

During Spruce Up Deltona, residents also are encouraged to clean up their yards, do landscaping and clean, repair or paint exterior surfaces of their home, Jackson said.
