KANPUR: A 22-year-old girl was stabbed and critically injured allegedly by a youth who later committed suicide by hanging himself in his house after severely injuring his mother on Friday.
The incident took place in
Varun Vihar locality under the limits of
Barra police station of the city.
The police identified the deceased as Ankit (26), who in his
suicide note recovered from the spot, held the girl and her alleged boyfriend responsible who had threatened him of fabricating in a
fake case, for taking the extreme step.
Police said that after stabbing the girl, Ankit went to his home and informed his mother
Savitri Devi about the incident. Before attacking her, he told her that the girl’s family will kill them. "If we remain alive, the girl’s family will not let us live in peace," the suicide note stated.
According to police, during preliminary findings it came to the fore that Ankit was in an affair with the girl for the last few years, but lately she started ignoring him after which he planned to kill her.
"On Friday afternoon, Ankit stalked the girl while she was on her way back from school where she is a teacher. He attacked her near Varun Vihar area of Barra. The girl sustained serious injuries in the attack. When the locals rushed to the girl’s rescue, Ankit fled from the spot and reached his house, where he attacked his mother repeatedly with a stick causing grievous injuries on her head. He then locked himself in a room and hanged himself to death from the ceiling," said a police official.
"The injured girl and the woman have been admitted to Kanshiram hospital. We have also recovered a knife, besides a stick used by Ankit to injure the girl and his mother and a suicide note from his room. Body of the deceased has been shifted to mortuary for postmortem examination. Investigations are underway in this regard," said SP South Ashok Kumar Verma.
