Purushotham Reddy’s bail plea rejected
Hyderabad: The High Court on Thursday dismissed the bail petition filed by suspended HMDA director (planning) Katta Purushotham Reddy. Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy dismissed the petition filed by Reddy seeking to be enlarged on bail in a case registered by the ACB for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income. The petitioner’s counsel told the court that his client had been in jail for 56 days. Since the investigation was completed, it was not proper to keep him in custody. Meanwhile, ACB’s standing counsel V Ravi Kiran Rao said that the accused had absconded immediately after registration of the case and made several case records not traceable. The investigation was still in progress and more information was awaited. After hearing the arguments, the judge refused to grant bail.
PIL wants TRT, PET to be ‘bilingual’ tests
Hyderabad:A division bench of the High Court has issued notices to the Telangana government and the State Public Service Commission (TSPSC), asking them to respond to a taken-up PIL case seeking directions to the authorities concerned to conduct the TRT (Teacher Recruitment Test) for the posts of PET (Physical Education Teacher) in English and vernacular languages.The bench, comprising acting chief justice Ramesh Ranganathan and justice K Vijaya Lakshmi, has recently admitted the taken-up PIL basing on a letter dated February 18 this year addressed to the ACJ by B Srinivas and several others from various districts of the state, seeking the court’s intervention by directing the authorities to make the PET examination bilingual. The bench adjourned the case by three weeks.
Jagan case: HC stays ED’s notices to Vasanth Projects
Hyderabad:In a relief to Vasanth Projects, which is an accused in the Jagan’s assets case, the High Court has stayed the notices and fixed deposit attachment order given by the Enforcement Directorate to the company. When the matter came up for hearing before justice M Seetharama Murti, petitioner’s counsel K Vevek Reddy told the court that the ED had issued the attachment order in violation of the guidelines. In fact, the company had entered into an agreement with the erstwhile AP Housing Board for taking up a housing project on 4.29 acres of land at Gachibowli in the city. Taking these submissions into consideration, the judge passed the interim order staying the attachment order and further proceedings of the show-cause notice of the ED.
