PMK founder S. Ramadoss asks people of the State to keep the protests going

PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss on Thursday said that the Centre is waiting to betray Tamil Nadu once again on the Cauvery issue.

In a statement, he said that it was clear that the Centre, which had been asked to present a draft Cauvery scheme by May 3, was getting ready to betray the State.

Union Water Resources Secretary U.P. Singh’s statement was a testimony to it. The secretary had hinted that the Centre might not even set up a body similar to the Cauvery Management Board, he charged.

He further said that the final verdict had said that the body would have powers to implement the orders and prevent any interference from the State and Central governments.

“But, in an effort to deny justice to Tamil Nadu, the Water Resources Secretary says that Cauvery tribunal final order is a recommendation and not an order. This is dangerous,” he said. He urged the people of Tamil Nadu not to let the protests die down.

Meanwhile, the party’s youth wing leader Anbumani Ramadoss urged the protesters not to resort to self-immolation. “Such actions will affect family, friends and society. While we must continue our protests, nobody must self-immolate for the issue,” he said.
