Reaching the east coast of Iceland, today, well call in Eskifjordur, a historic fishing port and charming seaside village on the shores of the Eskifjord. Here, a fascinating Maritime Museum details the regions long association with the sea, and shore excursions might include a boat tour to remote Mjoifjordur and the fascinating Icelandic Wartime Museum.

This morning Magellan arrives in tiny, exquisite Isafjordur, the capital of the Westfjords area, and gateway to the magical, mystical land of West Iceland from which Norse sailors set out to discover Greenland and the New World.

Reykjavik is the world's northernmost capital. Its brightly painted wooden buildings contrast sharply with the stunning beauty of its setting beneath Mount Ejsa. Step ashore to explore, take the lift to the top of the Hallgrimskirkja Church for a panoramic view, or visit the fascinating Arbaer Folk Museum and the Saga Museum.

This morning we'll tie up in the great natural harbour at Invergordon on Scotland's rugged East Coast. Step ashore to explore, or join an optional shore excursion, perhaps to Inverness in search of Nessie. Golfers may head to the fine course at nearby Dornoch, while whisky connoisseurs can make a pilgrimage to the celebrated Ord Distillery.

Magellan arrives back in Newcastle, today. Some of your newfound friends will disembark and finish their journey here, and you'll have some time to explore the city before beginning the final leg of your cruise.
