Police called to investigate ‘tiger’ loose in New York

Several residents of New York’s Washington Heights neighbourhood have called police reporting sightings of a tiger wandering the streets. Officers arrived at the scene to find a “particularly large raccoon”, which was caught and euthanised by wildlife officials over fears it might have been carrying rabies.

Babysitter high on LSD stole child’s toys

A Florida woman is facing a string of charges after she turned up at a family’s home to babysit their child while under the influence of LSD. When the child’s father asked her to leave, she attempted to steal some toys from the house. Police were called, and following a brief struggle, it was revealed the woman had also stolen the father’s wedding ring.

Substitute teacher ran ‘fight club’ in classroom

A substitute maths teacher has been fired from a Connecticut high school after school officials discovered he was running a “fight club” in his classroom. Police say the 23-year-old had encouraged boys between the ages of 14 and 16 to fight “at least four times”, leading to one boy being hospitalised for a mental health evaluation after showing symptoms of being traumatised.
