Reiterating his government’s commitment to end the water crisis in Bundelkhand, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that all pending irrigation projects would be completed by December, 2019 and a survey would be carried out to look for ways on providing drinking water across the rugged region.
“Ending water scarcity in this region is our biggest challenge. We have some plans but need to execute them. There are some pending irrigation projects. Two of them will be completed by June 30, 2018 and the rest will be completed by December 2019,” Yogi said while addressing a rally in Lalitpur on Thursday.
The Chief Minister said that a survey will be carried out to solve the drinking water crisis. Consultants have been appointed who will come up with a scheme to end water woes of this area within next three years.
“In last one year, the government has done a lot to provide basic facilities to the people and houses have been built for the poor. Last year, the BJP government constructed 8.25 lakh houses and this year the target is 11 lakh. Besides, 1.40 crore free power connections have been provided to the poor and school children are being given free uniforms,” he said.
Yogi also spoke about crop loan waiver scheme saying that loan of 35,506 farmers in Bundelkhand worth Rs 212 crore was waived off last year.
“I am told that Lalitpur produced finest quality of wheat last year and my government ensured quick payment. This year the MSP of wheat has been raised by Rs 110 per quintal by the Centre and the UP government will pay an additional Rs 10 thus making the total raise to Rs 120 per quintal,” he said.
The CM said that his government also planned to develop Lalitpur as a tourist spot and allocated Rs 128 crore for the construction of roads.
“Jain temples of Devgarh will be showcased by Tourism department and once we are able to do it, the transformation of the region will be quick,” the Chief Minister said.
