Indian settled for a silver medal after losing to of in the final bout of the men's freestyle 97 kg event at the ongoing 21st here on Friday.

The 27-year-old from failed to outplay Erasmus and suffered a 2-12 defeat in the match by technical superiority to finish second at the Arena.

Khatri, a bronze-medallist in the 2010 Asian Games, had earlier bagged the Commonwealth Championship twice -- in 2009 and 2011.

Meanwhile, the Indian pair of Manika Batra and Mourna Das also settled for silver in women's doubles event.

Batra and Das lose to the team of Feng Tianwei and Yu Mengyu 5-11, 4-11, 5-11 in a summit showdown clash of the event to pick the medal.

Sutirtha Mukherjee and Pooja Sahasrabudhe, the other Indian in fray, loses to Malaysia's and 13-15, 7-11, 11-8, 7-4 in women's doubles bronze medal match.

Elsewhere on the ninth day of the game, England's defeated India's Hussamuddin Mohammed 5-0 in the semi-final of the men's 56kg category.

In Badminton, Rio Olympic silver-medallist PV Sindhu advanced to the semi-finals of the women's singles event after defeating Canada's 21-14, 21-17 in a last-eight clash that lasted a little more than half an hour.

India's medal tally now stands at 42 medals, including 17 gold, 11 silver and 14 bronze.
