Three arrested for ‘conspiring to kill’ UP Shia Waqf Board Chairman

Delhi Police Special Cell have arrested three persons who allegedly conspired to kill Uttar Pradesh Waqf Board Chairman Waseem Rizvi at the behest of gangster Dawood Ibrahim’s Company.

The accused were arrested from Bulandshahr on Thursday, the police said.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) P.S. Kushwah said the accused have been identified as Arif, Abrar, and Saleem.

A senior police officer said they received information over a month and a half ago. They then received a tip-off about the presence of the accused in Bulandshahr from where they were arrested.

Earlier, Mr. Rizvi had written a letter to All India Muslim Personal Law Board to hand over nine mosques, including the disputed Ayodhya site, to Hindus. He has also expressed support in building of Ram Temple.

In January, Mr. Rizvi claimed that he received a threat call on behalf of Dawood after which a First Information Report on charges of criminal intimidation was registered in Lucknow.
