On Sunday, the rape victim, along with her family members, had tried to immolate self in front of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's residence in Lucknow alleging that she was raped by BJP MLA of Unnao and his accomplices in June, last year. The CM said that on the basis of the preliminary report of Speical Investigation Team (SIT) under ADG, Lucknow zone, brother of the accused MLA was arrested and six policemen of Makhi police station were suspended. Even action against the doctors who were found to be slacking in conducting the medical of the father of victim was initiated. Two doctors were suspended and disciplinary action was initiated against three others. The matter was finally referred to the CBI.
“Friday early morning, Unnao MLA has been arrested by the central probe agency,” said the CM.
Notably, victim’s father was badly assaulted allegedly by tainted MLA’s brother Atul Singh and his aides on April 3, 2018. Cross FIRs were lodged in the assault case and the Makhi police station cops arrested the injured father of the rape victim on April 5. On April 9, the man died owing to injuries he had received during April 3 assault.
