Jermaine D. Willis of Milton was driving in the wrong lane in Rehoboth Beach when a state trooper pulled him over and smelled booze, police said.

The traffic stop turned out to be Willis' sixth DUI offense, according to a Delaware State Police news release.

At about 1:09 a.m. on Friday, the trooper noticed a maroon Dodge Stratus traveling in the wrong lane on Warrington Road near Route 24 and pulled the driver over.

During the traffic stop, the trooper smelled alcohol on Willis, 36, and a DUI investigation ensued.

Willis was arrested, and a computer check revealed he had five previous DUI convictions, making this his sixth arrest, police said.

Willis was charged with a sixth offense of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving while his license was suspended or revoked, driving on the wrong side of the roadway, failure to remain within a single lane, and failure to have insurance identification.

He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $7,502 cash bond.
