One adult and six children were displace early Friday following a house fire in Wilmington's Trinity Vicinity area, city firefighters said. 

No injuries were reported in the blaze that damaged a rowhome in the 1000 block of Adams St.

Arriving firefighters, who were dispatched to the fire about 5:20 a.m., engine reported heavy on the first and second floors of a two-story middle of the row dwelling. Additional resources were requested for assistance.

The fire spread to adjoining dwellings through the attic space, but was quickly contained by firefighters, said Battalion Chief John M. Looney, a Wilmington Fire Department spokesman. 

"Firefighters searched all residences and determined that the all occupants had escaped prior to fire department arrival," Looney said. 

The Delaware Department of Transportation's reported major delays on northbound I-95 from exit 6 to exit 7. Police also closed several exit ramps around the fire scene.

The blaze was placed under control at about 6:50 a.m., an official said.

The American Red Cross was on scene providing temporary shelter for the affected people.
